Feminist theory: blog tasks

Read   Playing With The Past: Post-feminism and the Media   ( MM40 , page 64 - our   Media Magazine archive is here ). This is a great example of sophisticated media analysis and an indication of the level we want to be writing at by the end of the two-year course. 1) What examples are provided from the two texts of the 'male gaze' (Mulvey)? However, it seems that at that time, being  an air stewardess was not seen as a career for l ife; frequent references are made to finding a  husband, one stewardess commenting on Laura’s  magazine front cover, that ‘with a face like that  you will find a husband in a couple of months’.  Critical of these restrictions, like many post- feminist texts the show is aware of feminism,  acknowledging the terrible sexism the women  experience, and even punishing male characters  who behave in a sexist way. 2) Do texts such as these show there is no longer a need for feminism or are they simply sexism in a different form? in the conclusion it say

MIGRAIN: Introduction to feminism

Everyday Sexism Watch the Everyday Sexism TED talk from Laura Bates (linked above) and answer the following questions: 1) Why did Laura Bates start the Everyday Sexism project? In one week Laura experienced three incidents of cat calling and men inappropriately touching her without consent and just making her fell very uncomfortable. She spoke to people about it and they said shes just making a fuss.  She had spoken to some woman about it and they said how they have experienced  the same  things and it become  normalised. other people said that that she shouldn't complain cayuse there is equality now and she couldn't handle a joke and just made a bunch excuses that would put her in blame. then she looked at job statics and in the statics shown woman arent as likely to get the jobs shown in the statics. then she looked at rape, sexual assault and domestic violence statics and it showed the dangers that woman face as the statics are quite high. Due to all of this she started an

Your learner response is as follows: C reate a new blog post called ' January assessment learner response ' and complete the following tasks: 1) Type up your feedback in  full  (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential). I  got 16/43 which was a D my target grade ATP is a C. WWW; some theories and some examples provided in Q4 . EBI; more knowledge of industry needed;Q2/3 2) Read  the mark scheme for this assessment  carefully. Identify at least  one  potential point that you missed out on for each question in the assessment. Q1-The ‘h.i.t.h’ motif is repeated in a circular design on Stormzy’s head, mimicking a crown. This continues the connotations of royalty and British power suggested in the Union Jack, font and colour of the text. It also reflects Stormzy’s status as one of the world’s leading artists in 2020. i mistook this as a  B.I.T.H reference of the word B.I.T.C.H  in my exam and compared to to that however it was a H.I.T.H

MIGRAIN: Industries - Regulation

  1) What is regulation and why do media industries need to be regulated? Very few industries leave the organisations or companies who operate  in that sector to their own devices. Systems of regulation are required  to provide rules and regulations to ensure that organisations operate  fairly. In the media industry there are several regulatory bodies that exist  to monitor the way that their industries work. 2) What is OFCOM responsible for? Broadcast media (TV  and Radio) are regulated by OFCOM – th e Office of Communication  and the advertising industry is regulated by the Advertising Standards  Authority. 3) Look at the section on the OFCOM broadcasting code. Which do you think are the three most important sections of the broadcasting code and why? Section 1: Protecting the Under-Eighteens I believe this is very important because they are still young adults or children which need to be looked after and maybe are too young to be seen some of the programs being shown which could inf
